1. Appropriate clothing.
If your retreat is in a hot climate, light and comfortable. If it is somewhere in the mountains, keep it light but bring layers for warmth. If its a Winter retreat, jackets and the appropriate shoes are handy! Think about what you will likely be doing and then pack accordingly, and ALWAYS bring more than enough pairs of undies! Don’t forget your hat and swimsuit!
2. A good book.
Nothing is better than claiming the lounger by the pool and sinking into a good book. By your guilty pleasure and love every minute of reading it!
3. Earplugs and eye mask.
You may not need them, but every time I’ve traveled, I have never regretted bringing these two items.
4. A new journal and pen.
Retreats are often a time for contemplation, because we have the opportunity to be still and reflect. Writing down your thoughts and feelings is a great way to process and create space.
5. Insect repellent.
If you are the person that ALWAYS gets bitten, no doubt you already have this packed. Enough said.
Most of us have a camera on our phones these days, but if you are going on a social media detox you might want to pack a camera so you can capture those moments you wan to remember.
7. Passport and travel documents.
Don’t be that person that arrives at the airport and then has the “I forgot my passport meltdown”. Pack it and check three times, then check once more before you get in the car!
8. Any special items.
Your favourite yoga mat, mala beads, meditation cushion, crystals….. anything that you feel will enrich your experience.
9. Medication or supplements.
If applicable. If you are going to an exotic destination and there is the chance of an upset tummy, charcoal pills are amazing!
10. Your smile and an open heart.
Surrender to the journey, immerse yourself in the yoga, be present in your meditation and just be open to what ever happens. Allow yourself to let go and welcome the experience, what ever that looks like for you.
